Covid-19 Response
FPDS has and will continue to monitor the matrix of COVID 19. This guidance is taken from NC Department of Health and Human Services and NC Division of Child Development and Early Education. We have taken these recommendations and turned them into requirements to ensure the safest environment possible for our children, families, teachers, and staff during the pandemic.
FPDS COVID-19 POLICY (updated 03/05/2024)
Below is a snapshot of our current practices:
An abbreviated schedule (7:30am to 4:30pm Monday thru Friday).
There are designated entrances for the infant and four- and five-year-old classrooms.
We make every effort not to combine classes, and support staff is limited to their exposure by standing or sitting at the door or by an open window when relieving teachers for breaks.
While indoors, we are propping windows open and using air purifiers in each classroom to circulate fresh air.
All outdoor structures and large motor toys will be sanitized before the next classroom arrives at the playground.
Each class will bring outside their own small gross motor toys in a net bag and carried back into the classroom after leaving the playground to be cleaned and sanitized.
During nap time, children’s cots are separated by at least 3 feet (while napping head to foot).
All sheets and cloth items used by children throughout the day are washed daily.
All meals prepped or prepared by our chef and Kitchen Coordinator are plated and wrapped and delivered to each classroom.
To accommodate the abbreviated school day schedule, all classrooms meals and snacks will be served at the same time.
Children’s personal belongings are brought each day inside their knapsacks, which are then sent home each afternoon.
Pre-Enrollment Requirements
All staff and children, working or enrolling in FPDS are required to be COVID vaccinated prior to the start of their first day.A negative PCR COVID-19 test for the incoming student will be required before they may begin receiving care at FPDS.
